In a relief to many of the PUBG lovers out there, the game will soon be making a comeback to India.
As per new reports coming in, the company which makes the game, Tencent is planning to collaborate with Reliance Jio for the distribution of the game in India.
Does this mean PUBG will be coming back to India? Let’s find out!
PUBG To Collaborate With Reliance Jio And Bring PUBG Back To India
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been an extremely popular and well-loved game in India. In India, this game was distributed by Tencent, a China based company. However, due to the worsening relations of India with China, a massive chunk of apps, first 57 and then 118, has been banned by the Government that all originated in China, one of which was PUBG.
Following this, PUBG decided to sever its relations with Tencent and announced that it would be working hand in hand with the rules of the Indian Government and make a comeback in India.
And true to its words, PUBG is reportedly planning to collaborate with Reliance Jio to work together and bring the game back to India.
Sources close to the development have revealed, “The talks are in an early stage, which began just after the government’s second round of bans. Officials from both sides are working out the contours of how to structure various aspects of the deal.”
Legal Experts Exploring Possibilities Of Revenue Sharing
These sources have also revealed that legal experts from both sides are exploring the possibilities on how to split the revenue. They are discussing if it should be split 50:50 and another option would be Jio guaranteeing the revenues that PUBG should get which will be based on the fixed number of users every month.
This is not the first time PUBG has partnered with Reliance Jio. In 2019, Jio and PUBG had joined hands and offered Jio users who registered for PUBG Lite to get rewards to buy the merchandise in the game.
This is a developing story, and we will keep you informed as we get any more updates!
