TCS Will Hire 40,000 Freshers From Campus This Year; Refuses To Slowdown Hiring!
As per the reports, this year also Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Bengaluru plans to maintain its India campus hiring to the same level as last year (40,000), despite the sharp drop in revenue in the quarter ended June due to Covid-19 Pandemic spread.
TCS Campus Hiring
Apart from the campus hiring, the IT giant is also planning to double its US campus hires to around 2,000 this fiscal.
This is a part of the effort to reduce dependency on H-1B and L-1 work visas, as they are becoming increasingly difficult to get.
The TCS EVP & global HR head, Milind Lakkad said, “Our key strategy for building from the bottom doesn’t change. The 40,000 (in India) might become 35,000 or 45,000 — that’s a tactical call we will make,”.
These developments basically reflect the company’s view about the business, as they are expecting it to bounce back in the second half of the year.
In case of the US, the company has been recruiting engineers and graduates from the top 10 B-schools.
According to their hiring trends, It is hiring both freshers and experienced professionals for key business roles.
Lakkad said, “Local delivery is not new to us, we just had to increase the scale,”.
In the past, TCS has hired over 20,000 Americans since 2014.
Further Describing the situation, Lakkad said that Donald Trump’s decision to suspend H-1B and L-1 work visas as unfortunate and unfair and will have a short-term impact.
Moreover, this proclamation is causing uncertainty and anxiety among their employees.
Lakkad said, “Remember, these associates help run major banks, retailers, telcos, and every day, they are contributing to the US economy,”.
TCS Future Planning
So far, the company has honored all the 40,000 offers it made last year in India.
Further, he said that the freshers will join beginning mid-July and around 87% of the 40,000 are already active on their learning platform.
He said, “Some 8,000 to 11,000 recruits undertake online assessments every week. Over 8,000 fresher recruits completed one or more digital certifications before joining,”.
Apart from this, the company is also in the process of hiring over 100 experienced professionals for different positions, the number was insignificant in the last quarter.
It seems that TCS is switching to an extreme form of distributed delivery, with a highly centralized model and having large campuses accommodating thousands of employees.
The company is planning to ensure that its employees will be able to realize their full potential by 2025, without spending more than 25% of their time in a TCS office.
So far, the company is not planning to offload any of its real estate assets.
Subramaniam said, “We need those real estate spaces. But I think what’s interesting for us is the flexibility of the talent pool,”.
