Indian IT major HCL has announced that they are kickstarting their operations in Sri Lanka, and will hire 1500 IT employees there, in the first 18 months.
This way, HCL has now made it’s presence across 45 countries in the world.

HCL: We Will Hire 1500 Employees In Sri Lanka
In February this year, HCL had signed an agreement with Board of Investment (BOI) to launch a local entity called HCL Technologies Lanka (Private) Limited.
Now, this local HCL entity has been set up, and decks have been cleared to launch full fledged operations.
In the first phase, HCL will hire 1500 employees, and serve their global clients across the world from their Sri Lanka campus.
As per reports coming in, HCL will hire employees in Sri Lanka to serve their clients in Applications & System Integration Services and Infrastructure Services domain mainly.
Susantha Ratnayake, Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka said “This is a significant step in the direction of the vision HCL has set out for building its global delivery center in Sri Lanka.”
HCL Will Focus On Local Talent In Sri Lanka
The USP of HCL’s Sri Lanka operations is their focus on local hiring, instead of bringing in employees from India or any other location.
Infact, HCL has decided to implement their Work Integrated Education Program in the country, and partner with local engineering colleges and Universities to bring talented engineers and give them more opportunities.
Srimathi Shivashankar, corporate vice-president of HCL Technologies said, “We are looking forward to hiring and engaging with the highly skilled and talented people of Sri Lanka while bringing them the opportunity of working with a global technology company, at their door-step without having them to move out of their own country.”
Sri Lankan employees from HCL will now serve HCL’s Fortune 500 and Global 2000 clients.
