Upcoming 64MP Camera Smartphones In India: OnePlus 7T, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Realme 64MP Phone
After a huge streak of popular 48MP camera smartphones, it’s now the 64MP camera devices all set to take on the upcoming trend. Soon after Realme came out with its first set of teasers of a 64MP quad-camera device, its cut-throat rival Xiaomi joined with its own 64MP camera technology.
Both these companies would be using a Samsung 64MP sensor, who’s on the race as well.
As the trend continues to grow, OnePlus will also soon be joining up with its own 64MP smartphone soon, probably with OnePlus 7T, as per some sources. The list will continue to grow, and soon more smartphone companies will jump in with its own 64MP devices.

Realme 64MP Camera Smartphone | Realme X Pro
Realme has been a frontrunner in the 64MP camera industry. Realme will probably be the first company to bring in a commercial 64MP camera smartphone, but Redmi could also be the first. Xiaomi is also planning to launch a 64MP smartphone on August 7, while Realme will unveil its technology on August 8 at Delhi.
While the name is not known yet, many renders hint at to the much-awaited Realme flagship, Realme X Pro.
The Realme 64MP camera samples have already been shared with the “64MP AI Quad Camera” watermark confirming the four camera setup. The smartphone would use AI to add in the best of details, filters and adjust according to different lighting conditions.
Samsung 64MP Camera Smartphone | Samsung Galaxy A70S
Samsung is also working on its own 64MP camera smartphone, Galaxy A70S, and interestingly both the Realme and Redmi devices would be using the sensors manufactured by Samsung. Interestingly, both Realme and Redmi would use the Samsung-made GW1 sensor.
The expected Galaxy A70S will take some time to launch, and Realme and Redmi would be leading the 64MP bandwagon for now.
The leaked reports hint at a launch in October, much after Realme and Redmi 64MP smartphones.
Redmi 64MP Camera Phone | Redmi Note 8 Pro
Xiaomi too will be using the 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 before Samsung. The company recently came out with a teaser stating to unveil its 64MP camera smartphone on August 7, which would make them the first company in the world to launch a smartphone using a 64MP sensor.
Many reports hint it at to be the next Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone, which would come with the Samsung 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor.
OnePlus 7T | OnePlus 64MP Camera Smartphone
The next OnePlus smartphone leaks have already started to pour in, and the company may launch its first 64MP camera sensor with OnePlus 7T. With Realme having the sensor, it means the parent brand already has a deal, and they would be easily getting access to the Samsung 64MP camera sensor. It’s just a leak, and you should take it with a pinch of salt.
Though, OnePlus will definitely be adapting the latest 64MP camera technology, we don’t know when. It could be OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro or a smartphone next year.
64MP Camera Tech Breakdown: How 64MP Camera Sensor Works?
The 64-megapixel camera will soon be competing against the full-frame DSLR cameras. The recently shared pictures prove top HQ images with colour accurate description and detailing. The teased Realme 64-megapixel camera smartphone did vehemently better than the 48-megapixel sensor images, the current best in the market.
The Realme images show better colours, more details, better shadow and accurate description.
There’s an even exposure in all the shots shared with right dynamic range. The camera can zoom in without much struggle or without losing details.
The post image processing is also playing a major role here. The camera software will be using AI to create better shots and retain most of the details. While the 64MP camera outperforms 48MP camera by a leap, we need to wait to test them hands on.
The Samsung GW1 64MP sensor has a 1/1.72? sensor. This helps the smartphone to create shots 1.6 micron individual pixel size. The imaging sensing technology uses Tetracell to produce 16-megapixel images as well.
The primary camera is a 64-megapixel shooter, and the Realme and Redmi 64MP smartphones will come with a four camera setup.
The 64MP camera will soon become a trend in the smartphone industry helping smartphones to take better shots with higher details and better dynamic range. Realme is going to be the first company to bring in a 64-megapixel smartphone, and more companies will jump into the 64MP bandwagon soon.
