Redmi Note 7 vs Redmi Note 6 Pro: In-Depth Comparison
While Redmi Note 6 Pro failed to surprise us, Redmi Note 7 has done a pretty good job, both on the out and the inside. Let’s do a quick comparison to find the changes.
Design & Build
Redmi Note 6 Pro has an all-aluminium metal body while Redmi Note 7 has a new body with a gradient finish. It’s not completely metal, but the new Redmi design does look cool.
Redmi Note 7 looks smarter with more aesthetic design and gradient finish compared to the dated design of Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Display
Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPS display with a water drop notch in an 19.5:9 aspect ratio offering a screen resolution of 1080 × 2340 pixels. In comparison, the last Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a  6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a standard notch in a 19:9 aspect ratio.
Redmi Note 7 offers more screen space with lesser bezels, and the smaller notch helps Redmi Note 7 to have a higher screen-to-body ratio compared to Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Hardware
The Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on Snapdragon 636 built on a 14nm process clocking at 1.8GHz coupled with up to 6GB of RAM. While Redmi Note 7 is powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC with up to 6GB RAM.
Redmi Note 7 with Snapdragon 660 will offer a more refined performance, though both can handle day to day tasks with ease.
Storage
Redmi Note 6 Pro offers 64GB of internal storage with up to 256GB expandable memory. In India, Redmi Note 6 Pro is available in two variants: 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage and 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage.
In China, Redmi Note 7 has been launched in three storage versions: 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB. All the Note 7 models can be expanded up to 256GB with an external microSD card.
Software
Both Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 6 Pro run on MIUI 10 based on Oreo 8.1. The Android 9 Pie on both the devices is expected by mid-2019.
Rear Camera
Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro offers a rear dual camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary f/1.9 depth sensor. Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with Dual Pixel Autofocus, EIS, AI scene detection, AI Portrait 2.0, Dynamic Bokeh, Light Trails and Studio Lighting.
In comparison, Redmi Note 7 comes with a primary 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture paired with a secondary 5MP depth sensor.
The rear camera on Redmi Note 7 has an edge here over Redmi Note 6 Pro. Redmi Note 7 with the 48MP Sony sensor will offer better rear camera performance, even under low lighting conditions.
Front Camera
Up front, Redmi Note 7 comes with a 13MP selfie camera backed by AI capabilities. Redmi Note 6 Pro, on the other hand, offers a dual camera setup up front featuring a 20-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor.
Redmi Note 6 Pro will offer better wide-angle selfies with AI-based features.
Connectivity
Both Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 6 Pro come with Dual SIM connectivity, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS and a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery
Redmi Note 7 will pack in the signature massive Note battery again. The smartphone will come with a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0 technology. While Redmi Note 6 Pro also features the same 4,000mAh battery, but supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Redmi Note 7 vs Redmi Note 6 Pro: CONCLUSION
Redmi Note 7 is a massive upgrade over Redmi Note 6 Pro. The best part is that Xiaomi has kept the prices same. Redmi Note 7 will offer better performance, a good display, an awesome camera, solid build and much more. Redmi Note 6 Pro lacked better features, but Redmi Note 7 is definitely is a complete package.
While Redmi Note 6 Pro still features the same old dated design with big bezels, Redmi Note 7 is refreshing and better.
If Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 7 at around Rs 11,999, it can soon beat some of the best selling smartphones like Realme U1 and Asus Zenfone Max M2 Pro. Redmi Note 7 is a complete package and the China prices do justice to what Xiaomi is offering. After a dull year, 2019 seems to be a breakthrough year for Xiaomi.
Redmi Note 6 Pro arrived just a couple of months back, so it will take a few months before Redmi Note 7 lands in India, the earliest by the end of Q1 2019.
