Huawei P20 Pro & Huawei P20 Lite Launched In India! Should The Galaxy S9 Be Afraid?
The smartphone with three cameras, the P20 Pro, will take a dig at the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, which has the best DXO score of any Android smartphone yet.
After a launch in Paris last month, Huawei has now brought its much-talked-about P20 smartphones in India. The Chinese company has launched the top-end P20 Pro along with a toned down version, the P20 Lite. The Honor P20 Pro is all about the camera, which is also one of the first smartphones to feature three sensors at the back.

The Huawei P20 Pro and the P20 Lite come with bezel-less screens with an iPhone-X-like notch at the top. The smartphones run the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, heavily focusing on HQ imaging. The Huawei P20 Lite comes with a dual rear camera setup, unlike the Huawei P20 Pro.
Huawei P20 Pro – The Best Camera Phone?
The P20 Pro comes with an all metal-and-glass design and a striking mix of colours. The Huawei P20 Pro will go up against some of the best smartphones in the market like Apple iPhone 8 Plus, Google Pixel 2 XL and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.
The P20 Pro sports a 6.1-inch P-OLED Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2240×1080 pixels. It has an 18.7:9 widescreen with a notch at the top. The smartphone is also IP67 certified.
Coming to the most important part, the cameras, the smartphone features three sensors at the back. It has a 40MP colour sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, a 20MP monochrome sensor with a f/1.6 aperture and a third 8MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture and 3x optical zoom lens.
All the lens come with optical image stabilisation (OIS), phase-detection autofocus and LEICA optics. It can shoot videos in 4K and has Master AI technology which can recognise scenes, subjects and objects.
Up front, the device features a single 24MP camera which can click images with background blur in iPhone X like portrait modes.
The device runs EMUI 8.1 out of the box based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo coupled Kirin 970 chipset (at par with Snapdragon 835). It houses 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with no option to expand the memory. The device packs a 4000mAh battery with Super Charge fast-charging technology support.
The Huawei P20 Pro is priced at Rs 64,999/- and will be available exclusively through Amazon India starting May 3.
Also Launched – Huawei P20 Lite
The P20 Lite is a stripped down version of Huawei P20 Pro. The P20 Lite sports a 5.84 inch Full HD+ widescreen 19:9 display with an iPhone X like notch at the top.
Unlike the P20 Pro, the P20 Lite features a dual camera setup at the back with a 16MP primary sensor clubbed with a 2MP secondary sensor. The primary lens comes with a f/2.2 aperture and 1.0µm pixels, while the second sensor gathers depth information.
At the front, it comes with a 16MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixels. The P20 Lite runs EMUI 8.1 out of the box, based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. Under the hood, it packs a Kirin 659 chipset (at par with Snapdragon 625) coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
The memory can further be expanded with an external memory card. It packs in a 3000mAh battery with no support for fast-charging. The Huawei P20 Lite is priced at Rs 19,999/- and will be available exclusively through Amazon India starting May 3. The Huawei P20 Lite competes with the company’s own Honor 9i at this price.
