Both the dual camera setups on the Honor 9i can produce shallow depth of field effect for a pleasing Bokeh. It has been smartly priced at Rs. 17,999/- and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Honor 9i – Specifications and Features

The Honor 9i is identical to the Huawei Maimang 6 which was launched in China last month, and Huawei Nova 2i, which was launched in Malaysia this month.

Design And Build

It features a great design and a metal unibody build which feels very premium in. In spite of its large display, one-hand usability of this smartphone is very good, due to minimal side-bezels. The speaker grille is located at the bottom, with the fingerprint scanner placed right under the dual cameras at the back.

The device will run Android 7.0 out of the box with EMUI 5.1 interface on top. Nothing about the Android Oreo 8.0 update was mentioned at the launch event.

The Honor 9i will come with 64GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB.

The cameras on Honor 9i have unique configurations. At the back, it features a pair of cameras; a 16 megapixel sensor paired with a 2 megapixel sensor and an LED flash. Up front, the dual camera setup features a 13 megapixel sensor paired with a 2 megapixel sensor, along with a selfie flash.

The 9i is going to be a Flipkart Exclusive, and will be available starting 14th October. Launch offers bundled with Honor 9i will be revealed on the release day itself.

Preliminary Verdict

The 9i seems to be closer to Honor’s own higher-priced Honor 8 Pro. At Rs. 17,999/- it will go head-to-head against the likes of Mi Max 2, Moto G5S Plus, LG Q6 and Mi A1. On paper, the smartphone has some heavy specs bundled into an affordably priced device.

If it can deliver on performance, it has the potential to give other similarly or higher prices smartphones a run for their money.
