Airtel Offers 1GB Per Day At Rs. 198; Vodafone Counters With Unlimited Calling At Rs. 199!
Vodafone and Airtel have announced new plans for their prepaid users to counter Jio's plans
Telecom operators in India are launching plans after plans to stay relevant in the competition with Jio. To counter Jio’s aggressive plans offering free unlimited calls and data, market leaders Airtel, Vodafone and Idea are not only launching new value-for-money plans on a weekly basis, but are also modifying the old ones to be more competitive.
According to a recent TRAI report, Jio has added 59 lakh new subscribers in September alone, where Airtel managed to add only 10 lakh new subscribers.
Vodafone and Airtel have announced new plans for their prepaid users.
Under Airtel’s new plan, users will get 1GB data per day for 28 days for Rs. 198/-. Vodafone has countered this with a new plan of their own which offers unlimited calling in addition to 1GB data per day, for 28 days, at Rs. 199/-.

New Vodafone Plan At Rs. 199/-
The new Rs. 199 plan from Vodafone will offer 1GB of data for a period of 28 days. This will be in addition to unlimited calls (local + STD). But since this is Vodafone, there are certain limitations.
The fine print says that the “unlimited” Â free calling will be restricted to 250 minutes per day and will not exceed 1000 minutes in a week.
After the daily quota of 250 minutes or the weekly quota of 1000 minutes is used up, the user will be charged 30 paise per minute until the counter resets.
Users will also get a free free subscription to Vodafone Play services along with calls and data under the Rs. 199 plan.
New Airtel Plan At Rs. 198/-
Airtel is offering 1GB data per day, for 28 days, under their new plan. Airtel is not offering any free calling with this plan. Users will be charged 30 paise per minute for all their calls.
This plan is valid for select customers in select circles only!
Users might get an alternative plan in Best Offers section in the My Airtel app. The other widely famous alternative Airtel plan is available at Rs. 179, which offers unlimited calling with 1GB data for 28 days.
Airtel’s Rs. 199 plan and Rs. 198 Plan are different and should not be confused.
The Rs. 199 plan offers 1GB of data and unlimited voice calls (local+STD) in some circles and unlimited calls (local, STD with national roaming) for the rest of the circles. The Rs. 199 plan is valid for 28 days.
Other Value-For-Money Plans Under Rs. 200/-
Vodafone’s new Rs. 199 plan and Airtel’s Rs. 198 plan will directly counter Jio’s well-known Rs. 149 plan and some of the plans from Idea and BSNL.
Jio Rs. 149/- Plan
The new Rs. 149 Plan from Jio offers 4GB data and unlimited calls to any networks (local, STD and national roaming) with unlimited SMS for 28 days. Once the user crosses the 4GB limit, they can still enjoy unlimited internet at a reduced speed of 64Kbps.
Idea Rs. 198/- Plan
The Rs. 198 Plan from Idea offers unlimited local and STD calls (250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week) with 1GB of 3G Data for 28 days. Users can avail additional 1GB of Data FREE for 28 days by recharging through My Idea app or Idea website.
