The first 4G VoLTE Jio Feature Phone was announced at the last Reliance AGM, and the pre-bookings started on August 24 and deliveries were expected to start from September 1 onwards. But, due to massive response, the company missed its deadline and deliveries were postponed.
Now finally, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), an official channel partner of Reliance has started deliveries of the Jio Phone from 24th September in some areas. The rollout is soon expected to cover the entire country. The company is targeting around 6 million (60 lakh) Jio Phones in the next 15 days. Reliance Will Capture 10% Mobile Phone Market In 15 Days
As per a recent survey done by CyberMedia Research (CMR), around 61.8 million mobile handsets were shipped in the last quarter of 2017. If Reliance Jio manages to deliver the targeted six million units of its Jio Phones in the next two weeks, then the company will manage to capture around 10% of the overall mobile phone market in just one quarter.

You can check the status of your pre-booked Jio Phone by dialing ‘18008908900′. Share your registered mobile number when prompted, and you can get the status of your Jio Phone booking. You can also get the current status of your Jio Phone booking on the My Jio mobile app, under the ‘My Vouchers’ tab.
Reliance Jio Phone – Features And Specifications
Jio Phone will come with customized plans and pre-loaded Jio apps for messaging and entertainment.
Design
The device is 12.1 mm in height, 4.8 mm in width and 1.3 mm in thickness. Jio Phone will available in a single, black colour polycarbonate variant. On the right side of the phone, there’s a slot for attaching a lanyard, a rarity in modern phones.
Display
The device will sports a 2.4 inch QVGA TFT display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels.
Processor
It will come with a 1.2GHz dual core processor clubbed with 512MB of RAM. It features a USB 2.0 slot and 3.5 mm audio jack at the bottom.
Software
The phone runs on KaiOS (based on Linux) which supports 22 regional languages.
SIM Support And Storage
The Jio Phone accepts a single nano-SIM. But the phone is locked to Jio network and won’t work with any other telecom’s SIM. The Jio phone features 4GB built-in storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a micro SD card slot.
Camera
The Jio phone features a 2-megapixel camera on the rear and a VGA selfie camera, which shoots surprisingly good photos.
Connectivity
The phone has rich connectivity options which includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G internet with 4G VoLTE, FM Radio, NFC and GPS. However, though it features the hardware, the NFC feature is not yet activated. Expect this to be activated in future updates. Surprisingly, the hotspot feature is also missing.
Battery
The back-cover is removable and so is the battery. The 2000 mAh battery will keep the phone running for 3-4 days with moderate to regular usage, on a single charge.
Rs. 149 Jio Prepaid Plan for Jio Phone
The Jio Phone will come with a Jio SIM card which will be activated at the time of the collection from the store. The Rs. 149 Jio prepaid plan offers free unlimited calling, 1GB of 4G data everyday and 300 SMS for a period of 28 days.
Pre Installed Apps on Jio Phone
The Jio Phone will come pre-loaded with Jio apps like Jio Music, Jio TV, Jio Cinema and the rest. You can stream content from the Jio Phone on your TV via an aux cable, which can be bought separately. The Jio Store will be the official app store for Jio Phones which currently lists around eight Jio apps. Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp are not currently available. However, they are in the works and are being expected to be available in the Jio Store soon. For now, you can access Facebook and YouTube through the in-built browser.
