Within a week of the Redmi Note 5 leak, a couple of images of a retail box units of Redmi Note 5A got leaked online. Not only box but even the specifications were leaked of the Redmi Note 4 successor.
The images leaked online has a Note 5A printed on a red coloured retail box with the official Mi logo on the right corner.
At present, among the bestsellers, Xiaomi has Redmi 4A as a toned down version of the Redmi 4, and is also the cheapest among their range of handsets. But, Redmi Note 5A seems like the toned down variant of Redmi Note 5 with fewer specs.

Redmi Note 5A Specifications (Leaked)
Though nothing official has come out, the leaked specifications and rumoured features of the alleged Redmi Note 5A has a dual camera setup, Snapdragon 625 and an array of interesting features stored in.
- Display – The Redmi Note 5A will have a 5.5 inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full HD display with a 2.5D Curved Glass.
- Processor – The successor of Redmi 4 will get powered by the latest Snapdragon 625 SoC.
- RAM – Note 5A would get 4GB of RAM. There might be other another variant with 3GB of RAM.
- Storage – For the 4GB version and, the onboard storage will be 64GB, and for 3GB variant it might get a 32GB onboard storage. There might be the option to expand the storage or maybe not.
- Camera – Note 5A will have a dual camera setup on the back, one to capture the telephotos (portraits) and another one for wide angle shots, where one would be the 12-megapixel OV12A10 sensor and the other one will be the 13-megapixel OV12880 sensor. On the front, Note 5A will get a 5 megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor.
- Software – The device will Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with the yet-to-be-released MiUI 9 on top of it.
- Battery – With the Snapdragon 625 SoC on top, the device will probably pack in a 4100 mAh battery inside, and may get Quick Charge support.
- Price – Redmi Note 5 being priced in the sub Rs. 13k – 15k bracket, the Note 5A variants will get a price tag between Rs. 9k – 11k.
Note 5A Launch and Rumours
The Note 5A leaked retail boxes hint at an imminent launch. Note 5A will be the smaller and cheaper variant of the Redmi Note 5.
