Motorola Launches Moto X Play at Rs 18,499; Features 21MP Camera with 3630mAh battery

With an interesting tagline, “Meet Your Perfect Partner”, Motorola has launched a new handset: Moto X Play. Aggressively priced at Rs 18,499 for 16 GB variant, this new offering from Motorola has set new benchmark for this range of smartphones as it features an impressive 21 Mega Pixel rear camera and a powerful battery of 3630 mAH. The 32 GB variant is priced at Rs 19,999.

The handset would be available exclusively on Flipkart, and the sales would start today at 12 AM midnight.

At an event in New Delhi, Moto X Play was officially launched by Motorola India GM Amit Boni.

21 megapixel rear-camera is one of the strongest features of this smartphone, as it is equipped with f/2.0 aperture, dual flash, and rapid focus feature. However, HDR recording mode is not supported. It also has a 5 mega pixel front camera, which has now become a norm.

Besides the camera, it is the 3630 mAH battery which is being talked about most. As per the specifications issued by Motorola, this battery can offer 30 hours of usage on a single charge; and if time is short, then 15 minutes of charge can give upto 8 hours of usage.

Promising a ‘Pure Android Experience’, Moto Play X has inbuilt NFC technology and 4G LTE technology.

The handset supports hand gesture movements for some common actions, like opening and closing camera for taking photos. It also has Moto Voice feature, which acts on voice commands.

The handset sports 5.5-inch Full HD screen at 403 ppi; equipped with Gorilla Glass 3 and powered with Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor with a speed of 1.7 GHz.

During the event, they shared some numbers about Motorola sales in India. Motorola has managed to sell over 5 million handsets in India till date. Considering that they sell through online-only model, that feat is quite impressive.
