Hyundai Motor Company is exploring a strategic partnership with TVS Motor Company to develop advanced electric three-wheelers (E3W) and micro four-wheelers (E4W) tailored for India. The announcement came at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January, where Hyundai showcased futuristic concept vehicles aimed at addressing last-mile mobility challenges in Indian cities.

Hyundai's Electric Autorickshaw Can Be An Innovative Solution For Last Mile Connectivity

Futuristic EV Concepts Unveiled

Hyundai revealed concept designs of its E3W and E4W—featuring intuitive functionality, ergonomic design, and enhanced safety. The electric three-wheeler is envisioned as a next-gen rickshaw that can serve passengers, goods deliveries, and even emergency response. It comes equipped with a foldable wheelchair seat, height-adjustable body for monsoons, and an angled windshield for better visibility and collision protection.

Design That Marries Innovation & Indian Needs

The compact EVs prioritize a human-centered approach. Key highlights include a flat floor for added comfort, an extended wheelbase for stability, large tires for rough roads, and water-resistant interiors—suited for India’s diverse climates. The color “Aakaashi Blue” symbolizes India’s limitless aspirations, while heat-reducing roof paint is under consideration to combat the country’s high temperatures.

TVS To Lead Manufacturing & Marketing

While Hyundai contributes design, engineering, and technology, TVS Motor will potentially take charge of manufacturing and local distribution. This synergy could help accelerate adoption and localization, boosting accessibility to green transport across Indian cities. Though formal agreements haven’t been signed yet, the collaboration shows promise for revolutionizing India’s mobility ecosystem.

Micro-Mobility With A Global Vision

Though rooted in solving India’s unique challenges, the micro four-wheeler concept could have global applications. With a modular, scalable manufacturing approach and an eye on sustainability, Hyundai’s micro-mobility initiative aims to create a new category of urban transport that’s affordable, inclusive, and future-ready.
