Under this latest development, soon, all government as well as private schools in India School will have their own unique identification number.
One Nation One Student ID
The Union ministry of education has planned to create ‘One Nation, One Student ID’, as part of the National Education Policy, NEP 2020.
They are planning to name this as ‘Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR).
It is noteworthy here that this unique identification will be in addition to the 12- digit- Aadhaar ID that every student has.
Which is going to be applicable for every student from pre-primary to higher education.
Under this program, An Education Ecosystem Registry or edulocker, APAAR ID will be treated as a lifelong ID number.
This will further be utilized to track students’ academic journey and achievements.
Creation Of APAAR ID
The process has already started as the Education Ministry has directed all states and UTs to begin the process of creating APAAR IDs for students.
With the implementation of NEP, the Government will create ‘One Nation, One student ID’ through Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR).
Under this program, the state government has asked all schools to take consent from parents of students to create a new identity card for students.
This is going to be an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR)– under the new ‘One Nation, One Student’ scheme launched by the Union government.
The AICTE chairman, T G Sitharaman said, “APAAR and National Credit Framework will be the QR code for learners across India. Every skill they pick up will be credited here.”
In order to discuss the importance of creating the APAAR ID, the state school education department has asked educational institutions to organize a meeting of parents and teachers between October 16 and 18.
Besides this, the government has also asked teachers to update the blood group, height and weight of students in UDISE data.
Notably, the data captured on the Aadhaar ID will be the basis of the APAAR ID.
In the meantime, the school heads reported that they are already struggling to update the Aadhaar details of students on the portal.
