Mumbai Local Now Has Extra AC Coaches: Travel In AC With 50% Discounted Tickets!
The Central Railway will operate an additional 14 AC local services on the mainline (CSMT-Kalyan/Titwala/Ambarnath) on Sundays and nominated holidays.
With this, it will replace the existing 12 non-AC locals from the mainline with AC ones from the Harbour line.

Fares Cut By Half
The move comes after railway officials slashed the ticket prices on AC local trains in Mumbai on May 5 by half.
According to the Western Railway, for the air-conditioned train journey between Churchgate-Dadar, passengers will have to pay Rs 50, while for Churchgate-Andheri the fare is Rs 70, Rs 95 instead for Churchgate-Borivali and for Churchgate-Virar it is Rs 115.
Backed By Demand
With the 12 added AC services on the Main line (CSMT-Kalyan/Titwala /Badlapur) on weekdays the total AC services on the Main line increases from 44 to 56.
Chief public relations officer of the Central Railway Shivaji Sutar said that they decided to replace the existing 12 non-AC locals with AC ones from the harbour line after an overwhelming response and increased demand for AC locals on the main line.
Passenger Traffic
The number of daily commuters on AC locals on the main line surged to an average of 30,724 from an average of 19,761 in April.
The Central Railway ferries over 35 lakh passengers on the suburban services on four different corridors
Season Ticket Refunds
This includes the main line that runs between CSMT and Kasara/Khopoli stations and harbour line that runs between CSMT and Goregaon/Panvel stations.
The total number of suburban services on the corridor will remain unchanged at 614 since the existing AC services on harbour line will be replaced with non-AC locals.
Sutar said that Harbour line passengers holding season tickets for AC services can get a refund of the difference between AC and first-class fares for the remaining days from UTS booking counters.
They may travel in first-class ordinary services.

- Dombivali local leaving CSMT at 10.22 am
- Ambarnath local leaving CSMT at 1.15 pm, 5.00 pm
- Ambarnath local leaving Dadar at 7.39 pm
- Thane local leaving CSMT at 10.20 pm
Up Trains:
- CSMT local leaving Thane at 5.24 am
- CSMT local leaving Titwala at 8.33 am
- CSMT local leaving Dombivali at 11.48 am
- CSMT local leaving Ambarnath at 3.12 pm, 8.50 pm
- Dadar local leaving Ambarnath at 6.30 pm
Passengers can enjoy AC services on Sundays/Nominated Holidays as CR has decided to run the following 14 AC services on Sundays/Holidays also.
