Kia’s 1st Electric Car’s India Launch In June: 480 Kms Range, Price Rs 60 Lakh?
The Korean carmaker, Kia’s first all-electric offering Kia EV6 has received a lot of appreciation in the markets abroad where it is launched.

There are also reports making rounds suggesting the launch of Kia EV6 in India this year as it is going to be the first EV offering in the country.
But now the sources have confirmed the news of the EV6 launch in India by June 2022.
So far, we know that Kia is all set to bring the EV6 as a CBU (full import).
This simply implies that no changes will be made to its design, features, e-GMP platform or electric powertrain.
EV6 Features And Specifications
Coming to the EV6, it makes use of Kia’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy while giving this electric crossover a sleek and sporty overall look.
For interiors, the Kia EV6 will be offering a dual-screen layout, one with the digital dials, while another for the infotainment system.
Further, the Kia EV6 is having a connected car tech, a new two-spoke steering wheel design along with an augmented reality heads-up display, and a number of ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) safety features.
So far, the exact powertrain set-up Kia plans to offer in India is not clear but the configuration is out as it is offered globally.
Battery And Layout
According to this, a 58kWh battery pack version is offered in two configurations – rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout with a 170hp single-motor or in an all-wheel drive (AWD) layout with a dual-motor set-up that makes 235hp.
Besides this, a larger 77.4kWh battery pack that can be offer with a 229hp single-motor in RWD guise, 325hp dual-motor in AWD guise or in the range topping, performance-focused GT guise that has a dual-motor AWD layout that puts out 585hp and 740Nm.
The Kia EV6 is expected to be priced between 60 to 75 lakhs in Indian market.
According to the Korean carmaker, the launch of the EV6 is only the start of Kia and Hyundai’s EV plans for India as it plans to bring in six all-electric models by 2024.
Apart from the EV6, Kia plans to bring the new e-Niro and a mass market electric SUV.
Similarly, Hyundai will bring the Ioniq 5, Kona Electric facelift and a mass market EV SUV of its own.
