3 New SUVs Will Beat Hyundai Creta’s In India: Honda, Tata, Maruti SUVs Coming Soon
This year, the midsize SUV segment will see a lot of action as Hyundai Creta will get new rivals from Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, etc.
The Korean dominance in the segment shall soon be challenged by the arrival of three new midsize SUVs. The news that Honda is working on a midsize SUV for India is doing the rounds.
Honda SUV based on ‘RS concept’
We expect this upcoming Honda SUV to be based on the SUV ‘RS concept’, which is on display at GIIAS 2021 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The concept shares its properties with the new-gen BR-V and the City and has an extremely sharp and forward-looking design. In the Indian market, Honda is likely to offer a 1.5 liter NA petrol engine in this SUV. The engine, which also does New-gen City work, can produce 121 PS maximum power and 145 Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transfer options will be provided here. There is also a hybrid powertrain option in this SUV.
Maruti-Toyota midsize SUV
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota together form a mid-size SUV in the Indian market, which will be introduced here under both models. As guesses, it will be supported by the Toyota DNGA platform. The Maruti-Toyota midsize SUV will be powered by a 1.5 liter NA engine that runs on solid fuel. A turbocharged gasoline engine may be available. Both manufacturers will provide flexible and automatic gearboxes here.
Both SUVs will be upgraded with different top hats and will not follow the engineering work of the badge when it is launched almost in the latter part of this year (especially around Diwali). They will be the main launch in both models in 2022 and could have a huge impact as they could be significantly lower compared to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
