50 Lakh Govt Employees Will get Rs 4500 Extra Salary: Find Out How?
As per the 7th Pay Commission, Central government employees get Rs 2250 as ‘Children Education Allowance’ for each of their ward(s), maximum two, as an allowance for their education.
However, during the coronavirus-induced lockdown, Central government employees could not claim this CEA amount because even though they paid their ward(s) school fee, it was not reciprocated by the schools, in the sense that parents did not receive their children’s results through SMS or email.
Central government employees who could not claim the CEA benefits during the pandemic, can now apply for the same and can claim upto Rs 4,500 as the Children Education Allowance.
CEA Benefits Can be Claimed
Prior to the upcoming festive season, central government employees will now be able to claim the Children Education Allowance benefit, which involves claiming Rs 2,250 per month for each child (maximum two) for their education.
Due to the pandemic, these employees could not claim this amount. They can do that now.
As per an Office of Memorandum (OM) issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) last month, Central government employees faced problems while filing to claim for the CEA. This was because despite paying school fees, schools did not send students’ results via SMS or emails.
The Department (DoPT) has added that central government employees can claim their CEA amounts either by ??self-declaration or submitting the printout of either one, SMS/e-mail of result/report card/fee payment.
Such employees must note that this facility will be available only for the academic year ending in March 2020 and March 2021.
If an employee has not claimed CEA from March 2020 and March 2021 academic calendar then the employee can claim this amount and the employee will receive money as his salary component.
