Toyota All Set To Launch Rs 10 Lakh SUV In India: Can It Fight Seltos, Creta, Magnite?

The compact SUV segment has become a favorite of the country. It is being preferred by Customers en masse. And if customers are demanding it in large quantities, every car manufacturer wants to eat a piece of the pie, right? The compact SUV segment is on the verge of getting saturated now. It already offers options like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Magnite, and many more. It looks like Toyota might also be jumping the bandwagon by launching their compact SUV priced below Rs. 10 Lakh.

Platform and Engine Specifications

According to sources, the new Toyota SUV could be based on Toyota’s TNGA i.e. Toyota New Global Architecture platform. The platform has been a vital feature in Toyota’s recent global launches. This platform can be utilized to drive different types of drivetrains like all-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and front-wheel drive. Till now, Toyota has not launched a vehicle based on this platform in India. The new compact SUV might be the perfect way to introduce it in the country.

Maruti and Toyota share a lot of their components. And according to reports, both brands will be collaborating for this new SUV as well.

It is expected that the new car will come with Maruti’s 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with the hybrid system from Toyota. This car can also come with a diesel variant. Transmission options will likely include a five-speed manual as well as an optional automatic gearbox.

A car loaded with features

This segment is primarily known for its features. Toyota is expected to load this car with features like connected car technology, front & rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera, ESP, and multiple airbags. Premium features like a big touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, ambient lighting, etc. are also expected.

Though nothing has been announced officially, Rs 10 lakh SUV is expected to be launched by 2022.

Whether this new car will give a tough fight to already established cars like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Nissan Magnite? Or it will be just another dent on the market? Only time will tell.
