13 Lakh Salaried Indians Will Get 8.5% Interest On Provident Fund: How To Check Your Balance?
Very soon, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is expected to credit the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) interest to accounts of around six crore subscribers.

In a tweet, the same is confirmed by EPFO, the retirement fund body.
The tweet was in response to the queries posted by subscribers.
Further, EPFO mentions that the process is in the pipeline and may be shown there very shortly.
The tweet said, “The process is in the pipeline and may be shown there very shortly. Whenever the interest will be credited, it will be accumulated and paid in full. There would be no loss of interest. Please maintain patience,”.
The EPFO is expected to credit 8.5 per cent EPF interest soon.
So far, the retirement fund regulatory body kept the EPF interest rate unchanged for FY 2020-21.
But, with the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, the EPFO decided to reduce the PF interest rate to 8.5 per cent in March 2020.
Now, PF subscribers can check their EPF balance and the status of the interest in four ways.
Please note that, the subscribers must have their Universal Account Number (UAN) activated for checking the
EPF balance.
Four Ways to Check PF Balance?
1.Check EPF Balance Through Missed Call Service
The subscribers can get their details by simply giving a missed call to ‘011-22901406’ from their registered mobile number.
While doing so, note that the call will disconnect after two rings automatically.
Also, this service is free of cost.
These services can be availed by the registered member’s, so the KYC with the EPFO should be complete.
2. Check EPF Balance Through EPFO portal
First of all,the subscribers have to register on the EPFO Members Portal.
Then you will have to log in to – https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login# using your UAN and password.
This way you will be able to view your passbook.
3.Check EPF Balance Through Umang app
The EPFO subscribers can also view their account balance and EPF statement through ‘Umang’ mobile application.
For this the user simply has to go to employee centric services and click on the view passbook.
In next steps, it will ask for the UAN and OTP sent on the registered mobile number to view your balance in the Employee Provident Fund.
4. Check EPF Balance Through SMS
The subscribers simply have to type EPFOHO and send it to 7738299899.
Please note here that the SMS should be in the format-“EPFOHO UAN”.
Currently this facility is available in 10 languages.
For Instance, for receiving a message in Hindi, the user will have to type ‘EPFOHO UAN HIN’ and send it to 7738299899.
