HDFC made the news for the wrong reasons as a job posting it placed in a newspaper went viral.
What The Ad Said
The job ad invited graduates to apply for Branch Sales Officer role with the requirements being that they had to be younger than 28 years and that “2021 passed out candidates are not eligible.”
The last part raised eyebrows with some reacting with anger and outrage and others with surprise and contempt.
Public Reaction
The public was justified in their sentiments since those who graduated this year did so after over a year of entirely online classes along with uncertainty over their future.
This coupled with anxiety over job prospects in an already tumultuous market prompted widespread criticism of HDFC’s job circular.
HDFC Clears Doubts
This incident prompted the bank to explain that it was a typo and that it regrets the error.
HDFC said that they are open to all graduates irrespective of their year of passing so long as they are below the 28 year age limit.
