Full Resumption Of Passenger Trains Yet To Be Decided
The decision to fully resume passenger trains across the Indian Railways network is yet to be decided. Only after the nod of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the decision to normalize all passenger train services will be taken said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
Till now, 75 per cent of Indian Railways, Mail and Express trains have been started and 100 per cent of suburban or local trains have been made operational. However as compared to the total number of Indian Railways trains, the trains currently running are substantially less in number.
The railway routes which are required by most of the public shall be taken care of first, and then a decision of full resumption of all passenger train operations will be taken. Hence the national transporter is currently operating demand-based trains. In the form of clone trains, the number of passenger trains is also increased due to growing demand of passengers. But at the moment, trains are not being operated on the rail routes with less public demand.
