The news of Tesla launching in India is not speculation anymore. It is really happening that too very soon. According to sources, Elon Musk’s Tesla is going to be open for booking in India from the start of next year.
Which Model Of Tesla Is Going To Be Available In India?
Elon Musk had recognized the potential of the Indian market long back and had opened the pre-bookings in 2016 itself. That time Paytm founder Vijay Sekhar Sharma, Voonik CEO Sujayath Ali, Pinstorm CEO Mahesh Murthy had already booked their electric vehicle.
Reportedly, the expected number of global bookings for Model S and Model X of the American EV is accomplished. However, the company is planning to increase the number of sales of Model 3. To make this possible, Tesla is going to launch itself in India with Model 3. The bookings of the same will start in January and the deliveries are expected to initiate within the first 3 months of 2020.
Is Tesla Going To Be Manufactured In India?
Tesla is also all set to set up a manufacturing plant in India since it has already considered investing in the new emerging market. Earlier the company even had a word with the governments of Maharashtra and Kerala hinting towards putting money in Indian RnD or manufacturing centers.
A local manufacturing unit of Tesla will make the EV more obtainable for Indian buyers. This investment possibility will also be concurrent with India’s plans to promote electrified automobiles in India. However, this is something that will need time and can be expected to layout in just a couple of years.
What Are The Specifications Of Model 3?
Model 3 is a preliminary model of Tesla with a battery size of 50 kWh to 75 kWh. Currently, the vehicle is available in Standard Range (RWD), Standard Range Plus (RWD), Long Range (AWD), and Long Range Performance (AWD). According to tests conducted by WLTP the driving range of the EV varies from 381 km to 580 km.
This luxury car will be priced around Rs 55 Lakh. The fact that Tesla does not have any strong competition in the EV automobile sector gives it an edge irrespective of its price.
