Micromax Wants To Make A Big Comeback
As per statements issued by Micromax Co-founder Rahul Sharma, their company is aiming big for making a come back into Indian market.
And they wish to disrupt the smartphone market now.
Micromax has planned 20 smartphone launches this fiscal year, and the 1st smartphone will be ready to be launched next month.
Rahul has denied that their comeback has anything to do with anti-Chinese sentiments.
He said, “We actually sensed an opportunity on a global scale when the US-China trade war began over a year ago. This anti-China feeling in India is recent and you cannot plan on launching smartphones overnight,”
The company will invest Rs 500 crore for making new smartphones in India.
Micromax Wants To Disrupt Indian Smartphone Market
In 2014, Micromax and other Indian smartphone brands were at their peak.
In fact, during Q1 of 2014, Micromax was able to beat the might of Samsung, and emerge as India’s top mobile brand.
But things went downslide from then on.
Athough they attempted to make a comeback later in 2018 by launching Make in India smartphones, but their reach and impact had diminished.
Now, in 2020, Micromax is looking at another shot.
Along with Micromax, other Indian brands such a ICEA, Lava, Dixon, Micromax, Padget Electronics, Sojo, UTL and Optiemus are also looking at launching new models.
Infact, Lava has already launched few new smartphones such as Z61 Pro, A5, A9 last week.
Will Micromax be able to fight the likes of Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung in India?
