Some great news for people travelling to/from UAE from/to India.
Indian citizens carrying any valid UAE visa can now travel to UAE from Indian or UAE airlines.
The bookings of such flights start from Tuesday (today), for flights dated August 16 to August 31.
UAE and India Travel Routes Open
In a tweet by Pavan Kapoor, it is reported that as per a notification on the evening of Aug 11, from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, both Indian & UAE airlines now can carry any Indian national, with a valid UAE visa, from India to UAE.
Pavan Kapoor is the Indian Ambassador to UAE.
Indian citizens can now book their tickets (starting today) from UAE to 18 different destinations in India.
These flights will start from Aug 18 and continue till August 31.
The Reason Behind This Move
Flight operations and air travel between India and UAE had been halted since the last 5 months, due to the pandemic.
Some time back, we had covered a story, highlighting the increasing demands for direct flights from India to UAE.
Multitudes of Indian nations were writing to and requesting both the countries’ governments to waiver off the border restrictions so that they can fly to UAE to join their jobs as soon as possible.
Despite the UAE diplomat announcing to entertain flights from India, carrying UAE visa holders to the country, and security to the fellow citizens of the UAE lingered as the topmost priority for the UAE government.
Lowering borders to Indians created an alarming step for UAE, considering the pandemic situation.
We had also reported in the same story that the UAE ambassador said in a webinar,
“We have been talking and consulting with the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Civil Aviation and hopefully very soon…there will be some operation dedicated to those Indians who are in India with valid residency and work permit, ICA approval and Covid19 PCR test to be able to travel from India into the UAE”.
The move finally seems to have converted into a real thing.
