IRCTC App, Website Will Get Stunning New Features Powered By Artificial Intelligence!
It seems like, Indian Railways is going through the tsunami of initiatives, earlier we talked about the zero-based timetable for making trains faster and now they have come up with revamping the official website of IRCTC.
IRCTC Website Make-Over
We can expect a total makeover of the official e-ticketing website of the national transporter in the coming months as the IRCTC website may get a completely new perspective.
Last time, the www.irctc.co.in web portal was upgraded in the year 2018, when IRCTC had added several interesting features for easier and convenient ticket bookings.
Now the users may look forward to the official IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) website as now they are again planning to upgrade the platform with new additional features.
What Changes Can Be Expected?
This came into the picture when recently, the Railway Board Chairman, VK Yadav was quoted in a PTI report saying that the IRCTC website will be completely revamped.
According to Mr. Yadav, the processes will be simplified and personalized with the use of artificial intelligence.
Apart from this, the web portal will also be integrated with hotel booking as well as meal bookings as mentioned by Mr. Yadav.
In the earlier up-gradation during 2018, the IRCTC website was changed to get rid of the ‘Log In’ process for checking the train availability.
That time various new features were introduced to the website such as Vikalp feature to choose alternate trains in case of waitlist tickets, waitlist prediction feature, payment option by six banks as ‘preferred banks’, new user interface, etc.
Now, all the Indian Railways assets have been digitized by the national transporter for better monitoring as Mr. Yadav said.
According to Mr. Yadav, a geo-portal has been established and applications have been developed by Indian Railways for all its fixed assets like tracks, OHE, signaling and other electrical assets, which have been mapped.
Additionally, now Indian Railways all land plans have been authenticated, digitized as well as geo-referenced.
In addition, the Indian Railways has also introduced various digital initiatives in its freight train operations including the Freight Operations Information System, Control Office Application, Integrated Coaching Management System, e-registration of demand and E-payment Gateway, Software-aided Train Scheduling System, Crew Management System, Safety Information Management System and auto-generation of optimized loco links among various others.
All these applications are being utilized for the smooth movement of freight trains according to Mr. Yadav.
