Display, Build: Poco M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with a new design on the out made out of glass featuring a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display on top offering Full HD+ resolution. It’s a 60Hz display but offers 120Hz touch sampling rate with a punch hole camera at the top centre of the display.
Redmi Note 9 Pro sports a splash proof P2i coating with anti-corrosion layer for the internal components.
In comparison, Poco M2 Pro has a similar design as the already available Redmi Note 9 Pro series in India. The device dons a glass back with dualtone finish of either black, green or grey. The device has a textured finish on the lower side.
As the Redmi Note 9 Pro series, Poco M2 Pro comes with a similar 6.67-inch LCD display with 60Hz refresh rate.
There’s a Poco branding down with “48MP Quad camera” written above the camera module. It features P2i coating which makes it splash proof.
Hardware, Storage: Poco M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro
Both Poco M2 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro are powered by Snapdragon 720G, the new mid-range gaming-centric chip by Qualcomm. The chip on both the Redmi and Poco devices pair with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage.
The devices support a dedicated storage slot and features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of daily use you won’t find any noticeable difference.
Cameras: Poco M2 Pro vs Redmi Note 9 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro will have a new 48MP camera and not the 64-megapixel main camera from the predecessor. The Note 9 Pro will use the new 48-megapixel Samsung GM2 sensor. The four camera block behind further packs an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera offering 120-degree field of view.
The tertiary lens is a 5-megapixel macro sensor with support for 2cm to 10cm focus distance.
Finally Note 9 Pro camera module is supported by a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Upfront, the punch-hole houses a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.
At the back, Poco M2 Pro has a similar quad rear camera setup featuring the 48-megapixel lens as main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle, 5-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth sensor. Both Note Pro and Poco M2 Pro feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera inside the punch-hole.
Software, UI: Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Poco M2 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro runs on the latest MIUI 11 based on Android 10. Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with support for NavIC by ISRO, which uses Indian satellites for navigation. Poco M2 Pro runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 with the launcher.
It has customisations and tweaks, but MIUI comes with ads. MIUI 12 update on both the devices are expected to be rolled out soon.
Battery, Fast Charging: Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Poco M2 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro packs a large 5,020mAh battery this time supporting 18W fast charging. In comparison, Poco M2 Pro houses a larger 5,000mAh battery supporting 33W faster fast charging technology, an upgrade over the 18W fast charging technology.
Both Redmi Note 9 Pro and Poco M2 Pro ship with the respective 18W and 33W fast chargers in the box.
Pricing, Availability: Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Poco M2 Pro
Redmi Note 9 Pro new price in India starts at Rs 13,999 for the base model. The device has been launched in two different storage variants. The base model is available with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, priced at Rs 13,999. The top-end variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB is available for Rs 16,999.
Redmi Note 9 Pro is available via Amazon India and Mi.com starting in three different color combinations: Interstellar Black, Glacier White and Aurora Blue.
Poco M2 price in India starts at Rs 13,999, same as Note 9 Pro. Poco M2 Pro will be available in: base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 13,999. The mid-end Poco M2 Pro variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 14,999. Redmi Note 9 Pro doesn’t have a 6GB/64GB model available.
Finally, the top-end Poco M2 Pro variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 16,999. Poco M2 Pro will come in three different color options: Out of the blue, Green and greener and Two shades of black. Poco M2 Pro will sell exclusively via Flipkart and Mi.com.
