Maruti Swift Is India’s Top Selling Car In February 2020; Maruti Baleno Beats Kia Seltos In Total Number Of Sales!

The start of 2020 has not only brought along with itself plenty of news from the last year but has truly marked the beginning of a new decade. We are all aware of the degree of problems faced by the auto industry last year.

We have covered tons of stories on every movement that took place in the auto sector, every ups and downs recorded. The transition from BS4 to BS6, the GST regulations, policy instability and the general lack of sentiment from the buyers led the auto industry through turbulent times.

However, despite the horrific state of the industry, 2019 saw a large number of launches with breakthrough models. Just like that, we bring to you a list of top 10 most selling cars of 2020.

Maruti Swift: Most Sold Car of Feb 2020

The second month of 2020 saw all the manufacturers except Renault and Ford posting negative Year-on-Year sales growths.

The highly popular Swift hatchback was the most sold car in India in February 2020, with 18,696 units sold. Its sedan sibling ‘Dzire’ did not make the list as the production has been halted for the arrival of the facelift in the coming weeks with cosmetic updates, improved features and a new smart hybrid petrol engine.

Also, Wagon R secured the second spot with 18,235 units, with just 461 units behind the Swift while the Alto small hatchback was not far behind either. The budget based model recorded 17,921 units in February 2019. Another Maruti Suzuki vehicle in the top ten was the Baleno as 16,585 units were registered last month.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Tata Altroz in the coming months while the new generation Hyundai Elite i20 will be launched by the middle of this year as well.

Also, the new-gen Hyundai Creta arriving this month, shall boast a redesigned exterior and a brand new interior with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines complying with BSVI emission standards.
