30 Squats Equals Free Platform Tickets
At Anand Vihar Railway Station in New Delhi, Indian Railways has installed an advanced squat machine, called ‘Fit India Squat Kiosk’.
In case any passenger can do 30 squats in 180 seconds on that machine, then he or she can get free platform ticket.
Although it takes only Rs 10 to get a platform ticket, which is valid for 3 hours, but the interesting aspect is the health challenge which this squat machines gives to the passengers. Given the lazy habits of the urban Indian, this is a perfect way to trigger the habit of exercising among all.
Indian Railways announced this new initiative via Tweet, where they said, ?? ??? ?? ?????? ??? … ????????? ?? ??? ???, ????? ???? ?????????? ?????. This translates to “If we are fit, then India is fit. Do exercise and get free platform ticket.

Connecting Fit India Movement At Railway Stations
Fit India movement was a national movement to encourage fitness among all Indians, and was launched by PM Modi last year in New Delhi.
It was started on August 29th, which is celebrated as the National Sports Day in India.
By launching this squat machine at Anand Vihar Station, Railways has successfully connected Fit India Movement with railway stations, and this makes perfect sense as well.
Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also responded enthusiastically to this initiative, and said: “What a unique step by Railway Minister Piyush Goyalji. Fitness for free and saving money too! Exercise in front of this machine at Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi and get a free platform ticket. Let’s make Narendra Modiji’s initiated FitIndiaMovement a people’s movement.”
Besides this, Railways has also established a kiosk called ‘Dawa Dost’, wherein passengers can get generic medicines at a discount of 80%.
