FASTag Helps Police To Recover Stolen SUV In Mumbai: This Is How FASTags Can Stop Robberies!
We all are well aware of the Government’s decision to make FASTags compulsory for every vehicle. This decision sure has its upsides, such as not having to wait in line at the toll plazas for long hours to pay the toll, not having to carry around much cash in order to pay the toll fees.
Here’s another newfound upside of the FASTag – it can help regain a stolen vehicle as well!
Yes, a car owner in Pune has been able to recover his stolen car with the help of a FASTag attached on the windshield. Find out how this happened right here!
Pune-Based Builder Loses Car; FASTag Helps Recover Stolen Car
Rajendra Jagtap, who is a builder and belongs to Pune, had purchased a Mahindra Scorpio in August 2019. He had recently parked the car near his home in the Karvenagar area of Pune.
The next day, he received two consecutive messages of the toll being deducted from his account, the first one at 4.38 am when Rs. 35 were deducted at the Talegaon toll plaza and the second one at 5.50 am about the deduction of Rs. 35 near the Panvel toll plaza on the Pune-Mumbai highway.
This threw him into confusion as to why money was being deducted if the car was parked just outside his house. Soon enough, he discovered that the car was stolen. Wasting no time, he reported the crime to the police immediately, who got in touch with their counterparts in Thane, Mumbai, and were able to recover the car.
How Did FASTag Help Recover The Car
For those who are unaware, the FASTag is a Radio-frequency identification sticker that should be stuck on the windscreen of the vehicle. This is linked to your bank account or Paytm account and will directly deduct money from your account to the toll booth. If money is deducted from your account, you will be sent notifications regarding the same that inform you where and when your money has been deducted.
This is exactly what has been of great help to a man based out of Pune who recently had his car, a Mahindra Scorpio SUV stolen from him.
FASTags have been made compulsory for every vehicle in India by the Government. This rule came into effect starting December 1st, and if your car doesn’t have one, you will be made to pay double the toll tax.
