Everyone In Delhi Will Get 1.5GB Free At 200 Mbps Speed From Dec 16th; Rs 100 Cr Will Be Spent
Finally, some good news for Delhites related with Internet connectivity.
As per the poll promise, AAP-led Arvind Kejriwal Govt has announced that starting from December 16th.
Govt. will spend Rs 100 crore on this free Wifi endeavor.
Free 15 GB Per Month For All
Delhi Govt. has announced that starting from December 16th, everyone in Delhi will get 1.5GB data per day, or 15GB data per month, free of charge.
This data would be provided via 11,000 Wifi hotspots, which will be placed across the city in the next 6 months.
While the people living in low density areas of Delhi can enjoy this free Wifi at 200 Mbps speed, people residing in high density areas can enjoy free Internet at 80 Mbps speed.
Total of Rs 100 crore budget has been earmarked for the same.
CM Arvind Kejriwal has compared Internet with basic requirements of life, such as water and electricity, as he said, “Like we treat water and power as basic lifelines, we are also going to make internet usage free. And with this we are fulfilling one of our last pending poll promises,”
Massive WiFi Spread Across The City
Total of 11,000 Wifi hotspots will be placed, to cover the entire city of New Delhi.
4000 Wifi hotspots will be placed at the bus spots alone. As per the planning, one Wifi hotspot will cover approximately 100 meters, and 200 Internet users can simultaneously log in to the Wifi network, to access high speed Internet. Overall, Delhi will get one Wifi hotspot every 500 meters.
CM said, “WiFi was one of our key promises. In this digital age, minimum data usage is one of the basic necessities of a person.”
This entire project will be implemented by resto Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd.
On December 16th, 100 WiFi hotspots will go live, and 500 more hotspots will be activated per week, and the entire project is expected to be executed in 6 months.
