Redmi 7A vs Realme C2: Battle Of Budget Smartphones Intensifies (Camera, Design, Price)
The much-awaited Redmi 6A successor, Redmi 7A may launch alongside Redmi K20 series next month, according to a new report. While Realme now continues to dominate the sub-5,000 space with the second generation Realme C2, the upcoming Xiaomi 7A would have a hard time facing it.
Redmi 5A and Redmi 6A succeeded, but the upcoming 7A will have to prove its worth.
Available at a starting price of Rs 5,999, Realme C2 has been doing well in the market, and it remains unbeatable currently in the price range.
Backed by a set of mid-range specs, Realme C2 packs in top features as a water drop notch designed display, a rear dual camera system, big battery and more, all starting at a very budget price of Rs 5,999.
Redmi 7A is also expected to launch at a similar price. So, can it stand against Realme C2 in India?

Design & Build
Both the Redmi and Xiaomi smartphones come with a plastic build on the out. Redmi 7A has an aura design on the out, while Realme C2 has a gradient sort of finish.
These are polycarbonate bodies, so will be durabile, but are fingerprint magnets.
Display
Realme C2 features a 6.1-inch HD+ waterdrop notched display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In comparison, Xiaomi Redmi 7A comes with a 5.4-inch IPS LCD HD+ display. It’s a 18:9 widescreen display without a notch or edge to edge bezels.
All being only-HD displays, you won’t see any difference in particular.
Realme C2 has a notch and offers higher screen to body ratio compared to Redmi 7A. The Redmi smartphone would be apt for you if you don’t like notches.
Hardware & Variants
Realmee C2 runs on MediaTek Helio P22 chip while Xiaomi Redmi 7A packs in a Snapdragon 439 processor. Both being budget sensors, they will be able to offer standard day to day performance without much hiccups.
Realme C2 and Redmi 7A will be available in similar storage sizes: a base model 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.
Cameras
Realmee C2 comes with rear dual camera system featuring a primary 13MP lens coupled with a 2MP depth sensor. In comparison, Xiaomi Redmi 7A features a 13-megapixel camera sensor on the rear panel and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Realme C2 has a 5MP selfie camera.
Coming to daylight performance, all three smartphones offer above average performance with decent colours and details.
The dynamic range is okay, and HDR does a fair job.
Coming to low light performance, both the smartphones will suffer. Realme C2 has an additional lens, so it will be able to capture better depth sensing shots and higher amount of details.
Software
Realme C2 runs on Android 9 Pie with the latest Color OS 6.0 on top and Redmi 7 comes with Android 9 Pie skinned with MIUI 10. Both the smartphones come with their own respective UIs with different tweaks and features.
It’s an individual choice when it comes to UI, so you decide on it. Though, the new Color OS has improved significantly.
Battery
Realmee C2 and Redmi 7A both comes with a big 4,000mAh battery. Both the devices can easily pull off a whole day on heavy usage on a single charge.
Pricing
Realmee C2 is priced at Rs 5,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB base variant and Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage top variant. In China, Redmi 7A starts at 549 Yuan (around INR 5,500) for the base model with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
The other variant comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage in China at 599 Yuan (around INR 6,000).
VERDICT: Realme C2 vs Redmi 7A
Realme C2 is currently most sought after budget smartphone in the market. The company has done a great job in packing in the top features as a water drop notch designed display, a dual camera, big battery and more at a very budget price.
If put against each other, Redmi 7A would have a hard time facing Realme C2. The Realme smartphone has clearly upper hand here, and Xiaomi needs to price Redmi 7A very strategically.
Realme C2 being aggressively priced will hold tight against Redmi 7A. Xiaomi should launched Redmi 7A at around 5,000 rupees to take on Realme C2 which just costs Rs 5,999.
