Google, Whatsapp, Youtube Rank Top 3 In Creating Positive Buzz
Facebook and Instagram end up at the bottom of the list!
Google has defeated internet giants Whatsapp, Youtube and has created for itself the strongest positive buzz in the year 2018. Google is followed closely by Facebook-owned Whatsapp and Google-owned Youtube.
The report says, “According to the rankings, we see a surge in the popularity of digital brands and social networks.”
These rankings are according to a report by 2018 YouGov BrandIndex Buzz Rankings.
YouGov and Its Methodology
YouGov is an England-based online market research and data analytics firm. The company invites a group of internet users, or netizens, to obtain a response. This response is then weighed in comparison to demographic information.
YouGov ‘BrandIndex’ measures the public’s view of brands on a daily basis across a range of metrics. Buzz scores measure whether people have heard anything positive or negative about a brand during the previous two weeks. The Buzz scores from the data of the entire year are used to compile the rankings.
The rankings of YouGov ‘BrandIndex’ signifies several aspects of branding and marketing such as innovation, trust factor and daily use.
Scorecards of Google, Whatsapp and others
Google had a Buzz score of 57.2 points, WhatsApp scored 55.7 and YouTube 52.9 points. Make My trip, a travelling and ticketing portal stands fourth with Amazon at fifth place. Swiggy, which recently raised $1 billion which was the biggest funding in Food-tech till now, stands in the sixth position. Cab services, Uber and Ola stand seventh and eighth respectively.
While the top three positions were secured by social media networks, Facebook and Instagram are the only ones at the bottom of the top 10 list, at the ninth and tenth position respectively.
Deepa Bhatia, General Manager, YouGov India said, “In the age of digital natives, it is no surprise that the top 10 list has a dominance of technology brands. Noticeably, financial brands have recorded good improvement to their buzz score in the past year.”
Most Improved Brands of 2018
The reports also revealed the most improved brands of 2018 as per consumers’ perception. Zomato has been declared the brand that improved the most, followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank. Instagram made it to this list as well, standing in the third place.
“The winning brands have managed to stay relevant and have been successful in generating positive buzz amongst their consumers,” the report says.
