BSNL’s 4G Trials Start in Gujarat
Starting November 26th, BSNL has started their 4G trials in Gandhidham and Anjar towns of Gujarat. Hence, Gujarat becomes 5th state where they will hold 4G trials.
After Cabinet approved BSNL’s usage of 2100 MHz band, they have initiated a pan-India 4G expansion.
Free 4G SIM For Gujarat Users
In the cities where BSNL will kickstart their 4G trials, they are offering free upgrade to 4G USIM. Users will be required to visit the nearest BSNL office to avail this offer.
Infact, BSNL users are encouraged to get this free upgrade to 4G SIM, because very soon, 3G services will be stopped. Airtel too has decided to gradually abolish their 3G network, and convert into 4G network.
3G WIll Be Stopped
As per incoming reports, BSNL’s 3G network will stop working in the locations where 4G trials are happening.
In case of an old SIM, the user will automatically get 2G network, but 3G network will stop. Users of the new 4G SIM will automatically receive 4G coverage.
In case of Airtel too, only 2G and 4G would be available for users now.
How Much Speed Can We Expect?
BSNL’s 4G trials in Kerala have been remarkably successful. As per earlier reports, users are able to receive 18.1 Mbps speed under the 4G coverage.
This is as good as what Jio and Airtel are offering, and this is a good news for existing BSNL users. Besides, BSNL is expected to bring down the data tariffs, competing against Jio and Airtel.
And being a state-run carrier, BSNL can disrupt the market.
BSNL’s 4G Tests Spreading Wide
BSNL’s 4G tests are currently running in full swing in Idukki district of Kerala, where users have reported a speed of 18 Mbps.
As per Chief General Manager, Telecom (CGMT), AP Circle, A Purnachandra Rao, BSNL has commissioned their first 4G tower in Nunna (in Vijayawada), which marks their 4G debut in Andhra Pradesh.
Besides, BSNL is also testing their 4G services in some areas of Nagpur Rural Area, Bhiwapur and Vijayawada.
