OnePlus 6T is launching on October 29th. Is the wait worth it?
The hype and the excitement around OnePlus6T is refusing to subside. Now, after OnePlus announced that the launch date has been preponed to October 29th, from October 30th, the anticipation among fans have only increased.
We have already reported those 7 stunning features, which will tempt you to pre-book OnePlus 6T right now, and claim first-hand experience of this beauty.
However, if seen objectively, then there are some reasons why buying OnePlus 6 makes more sense right now.
Don’t believe us? We will soon share those 4 reasons.
And, we will also share the reasons why it isn’t logical to buy OnePlus 6 right now!
Contents
Reason #1: Same Processor
Both Oneplus 6 and Oneplus 6T are powered by the same Snapdragon 845 processor. This means that both smartphones will deliver the same performance.
Hence, this is our reason #1 for sticking with OnePlus 6 right now.
Reason #2: Headphone Jack
The good ol’ headphone jack has been mercilessly killed in OnePlus 6T: Now, OnePlus 6T will have the USB Type C Bullets V2 headphone, which can make some of you uncomfortable. Who wants an ugly looking dongle to stick around for listening to music?
Or else, if wireless headphones are ok with you, then that’s a different matter altogether.
Reason #3: Same Operating System
Yes, we admit that OnePlus 6 was launched with Android 8.1 (Oreo), and OnePlus 6T will have the new Android 9.0 Pie.
But, there is a twist: OnePlus has already started roll out of Android Pie for OnePlus 6 users, starting September.
And this means, OS of both OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will be the same.
This is our logic #3 for buying OnePlus 6.
Reason #4: Price Difference
And now, the ultimate reason: Price. OnePlus 6T is rumored to be priced at Rs 37,999 for the entry level variant.
OnePlus 6 is priced at Rs 34,999 for the entry level variant (6GB, 64 GB).
If performance, OS are same, then Rs 3,000 is the extra which you will be paying for OnePlus 6T.
Interestingly, as per some reports, OnePlus is planning to stop selling OnePlus 6 once OnePlus 6T is launched. This clearly makes business sense for OnePlus.
But if you want to save some money, and want to experience the OnePlus brand, then it makes more sense to buy OnePlus 6 right now.
Why buying OnePlus 6 Doesn’t Make Sense Right Now
Having said that, OnePlus 6T does pack a punch, in terms of innovation and uniqueness, which would be hard to ignore.
Here are three reasons why waiting for OnePlus 6T makes perfect sense, if technology is what you breathe, eat and drink!
Reason #1: In-display Fingerprint Sensor
In-display fingerprint scanner is what makes all the difference: Even iPhones doesn’t have that, and in their advertisements, this is the first thing which Amitabh Bachchan says, when endorsing OnePlus 6T.
Hence, if you want to experience this latest innovation from OnePlus, then yes, please do wait for OnePlus 6T.
Reason #2: Bigger Battery
Although a minor difference, but overall, this can have a huge effect.
OnePlus 6T will feature is bigger, better battery that OnePlus 6, and this is our logic #2 for justifying your wait for OnePlus 6.
Reason #3: Water Proofing
Besides, OnePlus 6T is empowered with a water-resistant feature, which is another much talked about the feature from OnePlus.
No, it won’t save your phone if you decided to take a dip in the swimming pool, but yes, it can protect your phone, if say water from a glass spills by. However, in the absence of IP Rating, we aren’t so sure.
Besides, there has been a rumored design update, better display with 6.4-inch AMOLED Full HD+ 19.5:9 display and some more features which makes OnePlus 6T as one of the most awaited smartphones of 2018.
Will you wait for OnePlus 6T or go for OnePlus 6 right now? Or, OnePlus 7 seems a more pleasant option now?
Do let us know by sharing your opinions right here!
Here’s my take on why some of your reasoning doesn’t make sense:
The 6T will receive at least one OS upgrade more than the 6; the 6 launched with Oreo and will upgrade to Pie whereas the 6T launches with Pie.
If a user has the USB C earphones, no dongle will be needed.
The base version of the 6 has 64 GB of storage. The base version (based on leaks, not definite at time of writing) of the 6T will be 128GB. So a wiser price comparison is for the 128 GB variant of the 6 vs the 128 GB variant of the 6T.
And finally, I recommend you proof-read your article before posting, there are two instances where you’ve written “One Plsu” instead of One Plus.
Hi Shahrzaad,
Thank you for sharing your observations, and for pointing out the typos (which have been corrected)
a) Ofcourse, 6T will have Pie, but how can you be so confident that OnePlus 6 won’t have the future OS updates, which 6T will have?
b) Not every user will have USB C earphones. And that’s the precise logic of this post, which it seems you missed. But I wont blame you..
c) What if I don’t need 128 GB space, and I am interested for a basic variant?
Very conveniently, you have ignored the reasons for which one should wait for 6T.. I have tried to decode the hype for OnePlus 6T, for that narrow segment, who doesn’t need that.
