But, Xiaomi soon will face a big threat as HMD Global is launching its bestselling Nokia X6 in the country on August 21. The company will launch Nokia X6 as Nokia 6.1 Plus in the country in the same price range, challenging Mi A2 directly.

Design
In terms of design language, the Mi A2 has the older Mi A1 aluminium unibody design with a sturdy metal finish. On the other hand, the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with an all-glass design which feels more premium.
Both the smartphones feel good in hand with a premium finish on the out.
Display
The Xiaomi Mi A2 has an 18:9 widescreen 5.99 inch IPS Full HD+ display with Gorilla Glass 5 coating on top. While the Nokia X6 or Nokia 6.1 Plus has a Full HD+ 5.8 inch elongated 19:9 display with a notch at the top.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus has an edge over the Mi A2 with a notch on top and very minimal bezels.
Hardware & Storage
The Nokia 6.1 Plus or Nokia X6 will run Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Mi A2 has two variants running the improved Snapdragon 660. One Mi A2 variant has 4GB of RAM with 64GB internal storage, while the higher variant has 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
Mi A2 has an edge over Nokia 6.1 plus with a better processor, but the A2 doesn’t have an option to expand the storage.
Software
Both Mi A2 and Nokia X6 will be running Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box. Again, both Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Mi A2 have offer a stock Android experience as both of them are Google backed Android One smartphones.
So both the smartphones will get Android Pie soon with latest updates and timely security patches directly from Google.
Rear Camera
The Nokia 6.1 Plus has a dual camera setup at the back comprising of a 16MP primary sensor f/2.0 PDAF shooter coupled with a 5MP secondary f/2.4 depth sensor. Xiaomi Mi A2 also has a rear dual camera system as well comprising of a primary 12MP primary f/1.8 shooter doubled with a secondary 20MP depth f/1.8 sensor.
Both the smartphones can take good pictures, but the Mi A2 has a better camera performing better in low lighting conditions producing better colours.
Front Camera
Mi A2 has a 20MP sensor on front backed by an LED flash. On the other hand, Nokia X6 upfront has a 16MP shooter backed by AI capabilities.
Both the smartphones can take good selfies irrespective of any lighting condition. Though, Mi A2 has an edge with a dedicated front flash.
Connectivity
Both Nokia X6 and Xiaomi Mi A2 has the standard set of connectivity features like 4G LTE support, VoLTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and more.
But, one thing Mi A2 misses out on, is the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery
Again its a tie in terms of battery. Both Mi A2 and Nokia 6.1 has an almost similar capacity battery units. Mi A2 has a 3,000mAh cell while the Nokia 6.1 Plus has a 3,060mAh unit.
Both of the smartphones come with fast charging support.
Price Comparison – Nokia X6 vs Xiaomi Mi A2
Mi A2 has been launched in the country at a starting price of Rs 16,999. The company hasn’t yet unveiled the prices for the 6GB/128GB variant. Nokia X6 similarly is expected to be priced at around the same category between Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus.
Mi A2 is up for pre-orders now, and Nokia 6.1 Plus will launch on August 21. Mi A2 will be available online via Mi.com and Amazon.in, and offline via Mi Preferred stores.
Final Verdict | Nokia 6.1 Plus vs Xiaomi Mi A2
Both Nokia 6.1 Plus and Mi A2 come with a premium design, top cameras, pure Android and really good performance. The battery life is good, as both the smartphones can easily run for a working day. If compared head to head, Mi A2 is going to stay a little ahead of Nokia 6.1 Plus for the better chipset.
But if you want a good looking premium phone with a notch and some top specs, Nokia X6 won’t disappoint you either.
