BSNL Revives Landline With Rs 99 Unlimited Voice Plan; Airtel Raises Post-FUP Speed!
Landline users of BSNL are in for a treat with Rs 99 unlimited calling plan!
State-run BSNL, in their attempt to trigger a new wave of growth, has decided to focus on landline now. In a new offer, BSNL is now offering no holds barred unlimited calling for just Rs 99, which only landline users can avail.
In a related news, Airtel has now decided to focus on post-FUP speed now, as they have raised their barrier, and offering 126 Kbps of post-FUP speed.
Will this attract Jio users?
BSNL: Unlimited Calls For Rs 99!
Via their latest Youtube video, BSNL has announced a new Rs 99 plan for landline users.
With no restriction, and no rules, BSNL landline users can now call local or STD numbers, any time of the day, 7-days a week for free. All they need to pay is Rs 99 per month.
They are integrated their earlier night calling plan (between 10.30 PM to 6AM), and Sunday calling plan into one.
This new landline centric plan has been designed for those, who are heavy voice users, and need an economical solution for the same.
As of now, there are 23.2 million landline users in India, and out of this, BSNL is the #3 player with around 55% market share. But as reported few days back, BSNL is losing their market share at a fast speed, and last year along around 1.5 lakh landline users ditched BSNL.
Most probably, this new Rs 99 unlimited calling plan is one last desperate attempt by BSNL to retain their customers.
Interestingly, Airtel added around 6000 new landline users in the month of December, 2017, and their growth rate in this niche is admirable.
How will BSNL tackle Airtel now?
Airtel Raises Post-FUP Internet Speed!
While BSNL is focussing on the landline niche, Airtel has slowly but gradually started exploring other domains of telecom services.
As part of this endeavor, Airtel has decided to increase their post-FUP speed for pre-paid users to 128 Kbps.
This new increased FUP is applicable to pre-paid users of  Rs 199, Rs 249, Rs 349, Rs 399, Rs 448, Rs 499, Rs 509 plans.
BSNL had been offering 128 Kbps post-FUP speed since long time, and in the past, even Jio had been offering 128 Kbps post-FUP speed (but they, it is reduced to 64 Kbps).
After Airtel’s increase in post-FUP speed to 128 Kbps, pre-paid users can use mobile data even after completion of their daily data quota.
But, does 128 Kbps speed makes it a truly unlimited plan?
