BSNL Launches Rs. 999 Plan With 1 Year Validity; Idea Revises Its Nirvana Plans!

The state-owned telecom operator BSNL has launched an all-new long-term plan to take on the competition. The newly launched plan comes with a validity of one year with benefits such as unlimited calls and a daily quota of high-speed internet.
BSNL has launched Maximum Prepaid Plan which only costs Rs. 999 and will offer benefits for whole one year from the date of recharge. It offers unlimited voice calls, 100 free SMS and 1GB of high-speed data per day with additional benefits. The Maximum plan from BSNL will compete with the others from Airtel and Jio.

BSNL Maximum Prepaid Plan – Tariff And Details
The official press release from BSNL says that the Maximum Prepaid plan will provide unlimited high-speed data with a limit of 1GB per day, unlimited free voice calls (excluding roaming calls to Mumbai and Delhi) and 100 free SMS per day. Post FUP of 1GB data, users can enjoy unlimited data at a throttled speed of 40 Kbps.
The benefits are valid between for the first 180 days. For the next 185 days, voice calls will be charged at 60 paise per minute for both BSNL-to-BSNL and off-net calls.
Comparable Plans From Airtel & Jio
Both Airtel and Jio have similar long-term prepaid plans of Rs. 999/- which offer similar benefits. But the BSNL Maximum Prepaid Plan is better in terms of validity and offerings. Airtel offers unlimited voice calls, including national roaming calls. But they are capped to 250 minutes a day or 1000 minutes a week. It also includes 100 local and STD SMS per day and 60GB of 4G data for 90 days.
Reliance Jio also has a similar plan with benefits which include truly unlimited roaming calls, 100 local and STD SMS per day and 60GB of high-speed 4G data for 90 days.
Which Long-Term Plan is Better?
Clearly, BSNL’s Maximum plan is ahead of the other plans. It does not actually run for a whole year. But 180 GB of data, for 180 days, at Rs. 999/- is still better than similarly priced plans from Jio and Airtel which offer 60GB data for 90 days.
It is also worth noting that the BSNL Maximum Prepaid Plan is valid throughout the country except for Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East circles.
Idea Revises Its Postpaid Nirvana Plans
The Aditya Birla-led Idea Cellular has recently revamped its existing postpaid plans. The company has now revised its existing Nirvana plans to offer higher data, in an attempt to take on on Airtel’s Infinity myPlan postpaid plans and Vodafone’s RED postpaid plans.
The Nirvana postpaid plans offer high-speed data, unlimited calls, SMS and other premium benefits.
As of now, details of only three revised Nirvana postpaid plans of Rs. 499/-, Rs. 649/- and Rs. 999/- are available. The details of the other revised Nirvana plans are not out revealed.
Revised Nirvana Rs. 499/- Plan
The Rs. 499/- Nirvana postpaid plan offers unlimited calls (Local, STD and National Roaming), free 100 SMS (Local & STD) per day and 40GB high-speed data with a rollover limit of up to 200GB. Previously, the plan offered 30GB of high-speed data. There is no daily limit for data.
With the Rs. 499/- plan, Idea is also offering additional benefits like a free four-month subscription to Idea Phone Secure, Idea Magazines and a free 12-month subscription to Idea Infotainment Apps.

With the Rs. 649/- plan, Idea is also offering additional benefits like a free four-month subscription to Idea Phone Secure, Idea Magazines and a free 12-month subscription to Idea Infotainment Apps.
