Oppo F5 Set To Launch: Facial Recognition, AI & A Bezel-less Display!

The Oppo F5 was recently unveiled in Philippines and  is scheduled to launch here in the country on November 2. The company has been teasing their upcoming Oppo F5 on their Twitter handle. Its main highlights are bezel-less display, facial recognition and AI Beauty Recognition technology.

As of now, Oppo F5 is only available in the Philippines, with further global roll-outs yet to be confirmed.

Oppo F5 – Specifications And Features

The device is at par with all the current smartphone trends, except for the dual cameras. The company has left out the dual camera setup, both at the front and back.

Design And Build

Oppo F5 has now joined the ranks of a growing list of smartphones with bezel-less displays. It sports a metal unibody build with minimal side-bezels. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the rear.

Display

The device will feature a 6 inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 Full Vision aspect ratio. It features a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels.

Hardware

The 32GB variant of Oppo F5 will be powered by the MediaTek MT6763T processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The other two variants, 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB will reportedly pack in a Snapdragon 660 chipset under the hood.

Software

Oppo F5 will run Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box, with Oppo’s own customized UI Color OS 3.2 on top of it.

Storage

The device will be available with 3 storage options – 4GB + 32GB, 4GB +64GB and 6GB + 64GB. The storage on all variants can be further expanded up to 256GB with an external memory card.

Camera (With AI Technology)

The Oppo F5 is going to be a camera-centric phone with a 20 megapixel front facing 1/2.8 inch sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The camera will feature AI beauty recognition technology which reportedly scan over 200 facial recognition spots to beautify a selfie perfectly. At the back, there’s going to be a 16 megapixel sensor with larger f/1.8 aperture, coupled with an LED flash.

Connectivity

The device supports all 4G bands with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4.2, with GPS + GLONASS. Additionally, the Oppo F5 has all the requisite sensors on board.

Battery

The Oppo F5 will house a 3,200mAh battery, which can easily last through a typical working day.

Price And Variants

The latest Oppo will come in multiple storage variants with 3 colour options – Gold, Red and Black. It will launch in India on November 2 and is expected to be priced around Rs. 20,050/-.
