Why OnePlus 5 and not OnePlus 4?
In case you still don’t know why OnePlus 5 after Oneplus 3 and 3T and not 4, OnePlus has succumbed to the widespread Chinese superstition of tetraphobia, where number 4 is considered to be a bad luck. The fear of the number 4 is so serious across East Asia, even elevators in China skip the digit 4 completely, and several companies avoid launching any product with the number 4.
OnePlus 5 Release Date (Will it be India Exclusive?)
The date still hasn’t been finalised, but June 15 seems to the probable date. We expect the possibility of the same day availability in India after they officially the release handset (online obviously via Amazon).
OnePlus 5 Design (The Chassis Upgrade)
The design of OnePlus 3T featured a solid metal build with a sturdy chassis. It is rumoured the design of OnePlus 5 to feature the same 5.5-inch screen like OnePlus 3T, which is fairly typical for most of the smartphones now.
Even rumours added to the introduction of a dual camera module on the new Oneplus 5. Chinese social media website Weibo depicted another design with the same dual-camera setup with the flash being embedded within the two cameras, where the body sported a different colour.
OnePlus 5 Specifications (The Snapdragon 835 Magic)
Their previous device OnePlus 3T featured the formidable Snapdragon 821 chip. The latest OnePlus 5 will probably be getting the better and more powerful Snapdragon 835 processor.
This processor is efficient and more apt compared to Snapdragon 821 and is Qualcomm’s flagship chip right now.
OnePlus 5 Benchmarks (Beating Samsung’s Premium Flagship Galaxy S8)
OnePlus 5 will be going head to head to some of the most powerful flagships in the world. A rumoured image of the Geekbench 4 test of Oneplus 5 shows a score of 1963 points in a single core test and 6687 points in a multi-core test. This straightaway beats both the Samsung S8 (1929, 6084) and the Sony XZ Premium (1943, 5824), who incidentally use the same Snapdragon 835 chipset.
OnePlus 5 Display (A Quad HD Upgrade?)
The probable reports suggest OnePlus 5 will be sporting a 5.5 inch Full HD display. The same as it was in OnePlus 3T. Even some rumours suggested, that OnePlus 5 might have a more pixel-dense Quad HD display. Let’s see!
OnePlus 5 Price (Getting Expensive)
The Chinese Giant is known to offer a lineup of flagship specs at a cheaper price which helps them to stay way ahead of their competition. But their recent massive spending on ads and marketing might point at a sharp increase in the price of their upcoming releases. OnePlus 5 probably will cross the upper price bracket of flagship devices and might cross the Rs. 40,000 – 45,000 mark.
And, if that is really the price-point, we wonder if they will do as well as they have done earlier with their previous flagships – OnePlus 1, OnePlus 2, Oneplus 3 and 3T. We doubt – simply because Indians are a price conscious lot!
