Google is putting in efforts to connect more and more talent from India, which is one of world’s biggest technology markets. The tech giant has already set up YouTube spaces in Los Angeles, London, New York City, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, and Berlin and is now adding Toronto and Mumbai to its existing list of the big cities. This space will sure be fun as content creators will have free access to audio, visual, and editing equipment, as well as training program, workshops, and community events.

We think hosting this concept on the Whistling Woods campus will make a big change back in Mumbai, for video creators not only in the city, but around the country who can get there and foster creativity, entrepreneurship and partnership with video creators across the world. There is no official launch date for this space, but the company said it is “coming soon.”

YouTube Space was launched in 2012 and since then creators have visited YouTube Spaces over 100,000 times, held over 800 events and workshops and over 11,000 videos have been created. The interesting part is that Google is also optimising the space for the creators needs.

Creators in India can use the hashtag #ifihadspace on social media to let Google know and can also sign up to receive updates about the Space.

For any video creator in the world, the common challenges are access to quality camera, audio, editing equipment and professional studios. YouTube is bringing all of that and much more right down to Mumbai. The rising number of video creators in the country will not have to be plagued due to be it unavailability of equipment and other regular struggles.

At YouTube space you can:

  • Learn: From training programs and workshops to master classes, there are opportunities to get hands-on experience from industry leaders, and learn to use high end production equipment, production techniques, and YouTube best practices.
  • Connect: Attend events, meet fellow creators, spark new ideas and share experiences on how to succeed on YouTube.
  • Create: This is a space for creators to bring stories to life. They’ll have access, for free, to studios and all the latest audio, visual and editing equipment that will enable them to experiment and create great videos that fans will love.

Amongst the Asian countries, India is one amongst the top contributors when it comes to driving time spent on YouTube watching videos. The partnership between YouTube and Whistling Woods International School, Google says, is to foster the ‘next generation’ of talent.

Bollywood is a thriving industry and has rising number of video creators, all of which the industry cannot accommodate. We believe YouTube space would create an opportunity for them at large to go and show off their talent on YouTube, where world is the stage!
