With its first model, the Xiaomi SU7, breaking records in its first year, Xiaomi is having a significant impact on the Chinese EV market.
Xiaomi has no immediate plans to introduce EVs in India, according to Anuj Sharma, CMO of Xiaomi India. However, the company is keeping an eye on the regulatory environment in the nation for potential future opportunities.

Xiaomi Has No Immediate Plans To Introduce EVs in India
As part of its global expansion strategy, Xiaomi recently unveiled the SU7 Ultra, a high-performance electric sedan that was displayed at MWC Barcelona.
Xiaomi’s “human × car × home” strategy is central to its long-term vision, which aims to create an interconnected ecosystem that connects smartphones, smart homes, and electric vehicles.
Xiaomi faces obstacles despite India’s expanding EV market, including low car penetration (particularly in two-wheelers and consumer durables) and stringent testing and regulatory requirements for automobiles.
Sharma underlined that it takes years to develop and test an EV, so Xiaomi cannot enter India right away.
Xiaomi is still taking a cautious approach to India, waiting to act until it has observed market conditions and regulatory changes.
As it continues to innovate and establish new standards, Xiaomi is currently concentrated on enhancing its position in the Chinese and international EV markets.
In the future, Xiaomi might emerge as a major force in India’s EV market if the right circumstances arise.
