While BSNL’s 4G network is being upgraded, the government is speeding up the company’s 5G rollout.
Of the 100,000 new mobile towers that BSNL plans to install, 65,000 4G towers have already been put in place.

BSNL Speeding Up 5G Rollout
Alongside the 4G upgrades, the push for 5G has accelerated, and the government is now considering foreign suppliers for 5G network equipment through a $2 billion bidding process.
Although 5G upgrade decisions are still pending, BSNL’s network modernization is anticipated to pick up speed once they are made.
For its 4G services, BSNL has been utilizing domestic technology, and it intends to keep this focus for 5G, though government participation is still essential for quick deployment.
Tejas Networks provides network equipment, C-DOT handles core network solutions, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) provides equipment for BSNL’s 4G services.
Half of the BSNL 5G tender volume may be given to domestic vendors by the government, with the other half possibly being available to both domestic and foreign suppliers.
As part of its nationwide 5G rollout, BSNL intends to install between 70,000 and 100,000 mobile towers.
In India, the business is getting ready to launch a Standalone (SA) 5G network.
Following a meeting of the Telecom Advisory Committee, the decision was made to include foreign vendors in the procurement of network equipment.
TCS is currently in charge of upgrading the 4G infrastructure by combining the core network solutions from C-DOT with the 4G network equipment from Tejas Networks.
TCS and Tejas Networks Working Together For Infrastructure and Technology Development
As previously stated by Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, BSNL plans to introduce 4G services across one lakh base stations by May 2025, with 5G services to follow in June 2025, according to TCS Chief Operating Officer N. Ganapathy Subramaniam.
With TCS stressing that the project is moving forward according to schedule and will be finished on schedule, this announcement has reassured users who have been anxiously awaiting high-speed connectivity.
The Modi administration has emphasized that all of BSNL’s 4G and 5G networks will be domestically developed, demonstrating India’s telecom technological independence.
TCS and Tejas Networks have expressed confidence in their ability to meet deadlines and are working together to develop the necessary infrastructure and technology.
In order to guarantee the seamless rollout of BSNL’s high-speed services, TCS is also collaborating closely with both Indian and foreign telecom partners.
