A new policy that Wipro has implemented mandates that staff members show up to work three days a week.

If workers don’t comply with this rule, they could lose their leave balance for the days they missed.

Wipro Will Deduct Leaves For Those Who Don't Work From Office

Wipro Makes Work From Office Mandatory For Three Days

In order to guarantee adherence to the return-to-office directive, the policy directly links office attendance to leave management.

On September 2, Wipro issued an internal email directing staff to abide by the revised work-from-office (WFO) policy.

The email instructed HR to immediately revoke any previous permissions for work from home. It said, “If there are any such approvals, please cancel them immediately, and ensure that teams attend the office at least three days a week. Leaves should be deducted for any deviation from the WFO policy.”

Workers’ leave balance will be reduced for any days they miss from work; they are required to report to work three days a week.

An employee clarified that management would label missed office days as leave if the attendance requirement isn’t met, “”If an employee misses the required three days in the office, those days will be marked as leave.”

It is stated that the policy is applicable to particular projects rather than consistently to every team within Wipro.

Wipro’s position is consistent with an increasing trend in the Indian IT industry toward more stringent return-to-office regulations.

LTI, TCS, Amazon To Resume Work From Office Policy

Under its “Rhythm” philosophy, LTIMindtree has instituted a comparable requirement for four days of office attendance per week.

At LTIMindtree, missing workdays also result in a reduction in leave.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) requires five days of in-office work per week from its employees, and it bases their variable compensation on that attendance.

Amazon is set to reinstate its pre-pandemic office work policy, requiring corporate employees to return to the office five days a week, starting on January 2, 2025. CEO Andy Jassy made the announcement in a memo shared with employees, citing the need for better collaboration, innovation, and connection among workers to drive customer satisfaction and business success.
