Two new features have been introduced by WhatsApp which allow the users to lock chats on the companion smartphones and also making the private mentions while posting a story.
WhatsApp Beta Introduces Enhanced Chat Security Across Devices
Reported by WABetainfo, it is in the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.8.4, that these features which enable the users to better protect their chats across all connected devices are available.
Earlier there was a feature helping WhatsApp to lock individual chats with a passcode. Notably, this was only available for primary smartphone. With the latest feature however the users can finally lock chats by setting up a unique passcode even on the companion devices.
Notably, user need to set a secret passcode on all the companion devices and the same passcode has to be configured on the primary device. In addition to this, in order to protect/unlock locked chats on WhatsApp, biometric authentication can also be used.
Private Mentions and Navigation Update in Beta Version
Another useful feature coming your way is the private mentions. With this, users shall be able to notify selected individuals about a status that they shall post.
As of now, this feature is available in the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS. The ones that you tag in the story shall only be able to see the tag, for rest everyone, it remains invisible.
In addition to these, WhatsApp is also testing numerous new features which include the display of end-to-end encryption badge.
As a part of major update, the company moved the navigation bar from the top to the bottom, making it further easier to access most of the menu options.
