The electric vehicles (EVs) appear to be quickly gaining traction across India considering the rising fuel prices and growing environmental concerns.

Launch Of India’s First Solar-powered Car – Eva
Now, Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government has introduced a forward-looking EV policy, taking
a significant move to accelerate this shift.
Under this new policy, the Maharashtra government is slashing electric vehicle prices in the state by 15% along with offering benefits like toll exemptions.
If we talk about the latest and most buzzworthy entries in the EV space, we can not deny a new solar-electric compact car that’s turning heads—not just for its innovation, but also its affordability.
The best part about this new vehicle is that it is priced even lower than the iconic Royal Enfield Bullet.
Yess! We are talking about the car—named Eva which was developed by Pune-based startup Vayve Mobility.
It was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, also touted as India’s first solar-powered car.
Eva Specifications & Pricing
When it comes to Eva, it is fully electric and designed specifically for urban commuting.
For starters, its pricing starts at just ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom) for the customers opting for a rental battery plan.
Considering these facts, Eva offers an entry point into the EV market that’s hard to beat.
For the consumers who prefer full ownership including the battery, the price stands at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The company is offering this car in three variants to suit different needs.
Eva excels in congested city conditions while effortlessly handling tight streets and limited parking, thanks to its compact design.
Don’t get fooled by its size as it delivers impressive performance with a top speed of 70 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in just 5 seconds, and a range of up to 250 km on a single charge.
But its pocket friendliness is what truly sets Eva apart with its ultra-low running cost which stands at just ₹0.50 per kilometer.
This latest launched vehicle comes with integrated solar panels which can generate enough energy to drive up to 3,000 km a year without plugging in.
This car comes with features like smartphone connectivity and a strong focus on efficiency, hence offering a smart, clean, and cost-effective mobility solution.
During the times when cities across India strive to tackle air pollution and traffic congestion, these kinds of innovations are setting the pace for a greener, more affordable future on the roads.
