Protest stagged by Berozgar Sangh:
The Ordinance has now been made a law after receiving the Governor’s approval. Youth from the Berozgar Sangh, a group of unemployed people in the state, protested last week on Dehradun’s main Rajpur Road, calling for a CBI investigation into hiring irregularities. After the agitators exchanged blows with police officers who had arrived on the scene to enforce the order, the protests turned violent.
Police claim that during the protest, the demonstrators threw stones at them and vandalized their vehicles. 13 protesters were detained by the police in connection with alleged stone-throwing during the demonstration, including Bobby Panwar, president of the Berozgar Sangh.
In the alleged stone-pelting incident, 15 police officers were hurt in total.
Speaking to the people of Kalsi, the chief minister further declared that since the state’s strictest anti-copying law had been passed, nobody would be permitted to jeopardize the prospects of young people.
