The Jewar International Airport is on track to become Asia’s largest airport, with regular operations starting in April, according to Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he mentioned that airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, are eager to improve global connectivity from the airport.

Infrastructure and Connectivity
The airport is strategically located near the Noida Expressway, ensuring seamless road connectivity. A validation flight was successfully conducted in December, and the project is progressing as per the planned timeline. The government is focused on enhancing transport links, making the Jewar airport a major aviation hub.
UDAN Scheme Extended for 10 Years
The minister also announced that the UDAN scheme (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) will be extended for another 10 years. The initiative has been revolutionary in improving regional air connectivity, making air travel more accessible to the public.
100 New Airports Planned
In addition to expanding UDAN, the government aims to develop 100 more airports across India to strengthen the country’s aviation network. The minister also confirmed that Kushinagar Airport will start operations soon, further boosting regional connectivity.
