The viaduct construction for India’s first high-speed rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is almost 60% complete.
The 508-kilometer corridor passes through Maharashtra for 156 km and Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for 352 km.

There will be 12 stations along the route, which will connect Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Thane, Mumbai, and Surat.
NHSRCL reported that 394 km of pier foundations, 375 km of piers, and 293 km of viaducts were finished as of April 18, 2025.
Girders totaling 320 km have been cast.
In districts like Surat, Kheda, Navsari, and Valsad, 14 river bridges have been completed.
Additionally, five prestressed concrete (PSC) bridges and seven steel bridges have been finished.
Gujarat is at the forefront of construction development. In Gujarat, about 143 km of track beds are being built.
Over 150 km, 3 lakh noise barriers have been put in place.
Currently, rail welding is being done for track panels that are 200 meters long.
Between the stations of Surat and Bilimora, more than 100 overhead equipment (OHE) masts have been erected.
The structural work for six of Gujarat’s eight stations is finished.
Maharashtra Concentrating on Underground Station
Maharashtra is concentrating on underground station construction and tunneling.
Using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM), the 21-kilometer tunnel between BKC and Shilphata has advanced 3.3 kilometers.
In the Palghar district, seven mountain tunnels are being built.
The depths of the Sawli and Vikhroli shafts are 39 and 56 meters, respectively.
Seventy-five percent of the 18.7 lakh cubic meters of earthwork that were planned for the Mumbai Bullet Train Station have been finished.
Using temperature-controlled concrete from on-site batching and chiller plants, 25,000 cubic meters of concrete have been poured for the base slab out of a total plan of 2 lakh cubic meters.
The 3,384 secant piles needed for the foundation have all been finished.
