WhatsApp Chatbot Simplifies Access to Government Documents

The governments first move launched earlier in 2022 for storing and managing digital document is service that leverages the existing Digilocker platform.

The new WhatsApp chatbot streamlines this by combining Digilocker’s functionalities within a familiar platform. Earlier accessing these documents often involved visiting government offices and navigating potentially lengthy processes.

Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

Benefits and Ease of Use:

Convenience: WhatsApp, already widely used in India, eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices.

Speed: Documents can be downloaded within seconds, saving users significant time and effort.

Accessibility: The service is accessible to anyone with a smartphone and a WhatsApp account.

How to Access These Documents Via WhatsApp?

  1. Digilocker Account: Having a Digilocker account is important. If you don’t have one, signing up requires your Aadhaar card details, mobile number, email ID, and date of birth.
  2. MyGov Chatbot: On WhatsApp, search for the MyGov Helpdesk chatbot and initiate a conversation by sending “Namaste,” “Hi,” or “Digilocker” to the number +91 9013151515.
  3. Authentication: The chatbot will respond with a welcome message and prompt you to enter your Digilocker account details. This includes your Aadhaar number, followed by a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile device.
  4. Download Documents: Once authenticated, you can download any document available in your Digilocker account, including PAN card, driving license, RC, school mark sheets, insurance policies, and more.

By leveraging the popularity of WhatsApp and integrating Digilocker’s safe and secure platform, the process becomes faster, more convenient, and accessible to a wider range of users. So, this new service through WhatsApp offers a significant improvement for Indian citizen’s access to essential government documents.
