As we all know, India’s Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget 2025 for the record eighth time this Saturday.
The budget comes with a slew of announcements for the startup and tech sector.

In addition to this they have included a fund of funds (FoF), an artificial intelligence (AI) centre and measures to boost global capability centres, among others.
Unwailing Of Union Budget 2025
It appears that the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled her eighth consecutive Union Budget on February 1.
While that being said, the income tax rebates she has announced have been the biggest talking point so far.
Besides this, the finance minister has also announced various schemes for the MSME sector, women, farmers, the education sector, boosting exports, etc.
It appears that all these initiatives are announced to boost self-reliance in the country at the same time keeping an eye on Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The announcement of tax relief has been welcomed as a breath of relief after going through the widespread discontent among the middle class.
Highlights From Union Budget 2025
Let’s go through the key takeaways from Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech.
Sitharaman said that earlier, the Economic Survey which was tabled in Parliament projected a growth rate of 6.3-6.8 per cent for the next financial year.
Further adding, “Viksit Bharat@2047 envisions India as a developed nation by 2047, the centenary of our independence. This would entail sustained economic growth of close to 8 per cent every year for at least a decade.”
Moving ahead, the finance minister announced a new fund of funds (FoF) for startups with an expanded scope of Rs 10,000 crore.
Besides this the centre has also proposed to set up a centre of excellence (CoE) in artificial intelligence (AI) for education with a total investment of Rs 500 crore.
In addition to this, they will extend the startup incorporation period by 5 years as they want to allow more Indian firms to qualify for these benefits.
For the gig workers, the government of India has announced that they will get health insurance under the Jan Arogya scheme.
To implement this, they will be given identity cards, said the finance minister.
In order to cultivate scientific temper in young minds, 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in the country in the next five years.
Additionally, the government will be launching the Bharatiya Bhasha Pushtak scheme to provide a digital form of Indian language books for schools and higher education.
